POSITION DESCRIPTION

Fiber Laser Operator

3rd Shift

Reports to:        Manufacturing Supervisor

SUMMARY: 

Operate Laser cutting machine in the fabrication department.  Employee will comply with all safety and quality guidelines on machinery and in the workplace.  Be adequately cross trained in various functions on small hydraulic machines.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Constant attention to safety

· Accurately completing necessary job paperwork

· Set-up and operation of tube laser equipment

· Sample and production runs of products

· Consistent and accurate quality checks

· Tube laser cutting using nitrogen and oxygen assisted gasses using conventional co2  resonators and cutting edge fiber technology

· Setting focal points and nozzle centering

· Performing necessary assist gas pressure adjustments to achieve proper cutting

· Performing necessary cutting speed adjustments to achieve proper cutting

· Daily machine inspections for possible machine malfunctions to prevent “downtime”

· Strong blueprint reading skills are highly desired

· Overhead crane and forklift skills a plus

· Knowledge of tube sizes, alloys and wall thicknesses

· Experience handling excessive length materials a plus

· BLM,and Mazak Equipment experience a plus

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), preferred

  • One to three years related manufacturing experience preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, write and understand English

 

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

  • Ability to read and interpret basic documents, safety rules and other correspondence.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to read standard and metric tape measure.

 

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT:

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level is determined in the company’s employee handbook. Must be available and willing to work overtime hours as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs. Must be available and willing to work such weekends and/or holidays as the employer determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
