Reporting to the Director of Operations, the EHS Manager will be responsible for the managing all environmental, health and safety requirements while ensuring strict regulatory EH&S compliance to maintain a safe and healthy workplace through the development of effective worker safety policies and initiatives.

 

Essential Job Results:

  • ISO 14001:  Ensure compliance with the Environmental Management System to the standard required by ISO 14001.  Conduct training that represents compliance to the certification body for quality, environment and Health & Safety (EPA, ISO 14001, and OSHA).

  • Air Permitting:  Submit permit renewal every five years. Prepare and submit the annual Emissions Inventory Questionnaire (EIQ). Report process changes as required to the regulatory agency to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations. Manage the documentation of VOC/HAPS emissions and maintenance logs on air emissions equipment by conducting periodic critical system audits. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Wastewater:  Submit permit for renewal every five years. Prepare and submit annual and quarterly WW reports. Work with the plant’s maintenance department responding to all NOV’s and troubleshoot to abatement/closure reporting findings to the area regulatory agency. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Storm Water:  Submit permit for renewal every five years. Manage the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and oversee documentation of monthly storm water inspections. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures:  Ensure compliance with SPCC regulations, update SPCC Plan as needed and oversee cleanup of any spills.  Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.

  • Waste Program (Hazardous, Non-Hazardous, Special Waste, Universal Waste and Recycling) :  Maintain all aspects of waste program.  Maintain VSQG requirements to ensure compliance with waste management program.  Conduct waste management assessments as needed to determine waste profile needs.  Monitor and inspect waste storage areas and containers.  Manage documentation of waste shipments (manifests). Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Tier II Reporting:  Complete and submit facility Tier II reports annually.  Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.

  • TRI Reporting:  Complete and submit facility TRI report annually.  Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.

  • Employee Safety Training and OSHA Mandated Safety Training:  Responsible for delivery of Employee Safety Training. Develop and maintain the annual safety training matrix. Develop site-specific training packages and ensure completion of employee safety training in accordance with OSHA and other regulatory agency requirements.  Maintain OSHA logs, track TRIR and DART rates and compile relevant data to determine areas for safety improvements.

  • Universal and Hazardous Waste:  Ensure annual hazardous waste reports are prepared and submitted to the regulatory agency in a timely manner. Monitor and inspect waste storage areas and containers.  Manage documentation of waste shipments (manifests). Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Employee Safety Training and OSHA Mandated Safety Training:  Responsible for delivery of Employee Safety Training. Develop and maintain the annual safety training matrix. Develop site-specific training packages and ensure completion of employee safety training in accordance with OSHA and other regulatory agency requirements.

  • Worker Safety:  Develop, implement, and maintain all applicable safety policies and procedures including but not limited to the following: Employee Safety Policies and Procedures, Accident and Injury Reporting, Respirator Protection Plan, Personal Protection Plan, Fall Protection Plan, Hazard Communication, Lock-Out Tag Out Program, Hearing Protection Program, Ergonomics Program, Site Emergency Action Plan (SEAP), Departmental Safety Process, Safety Policies, Other Supporting Documentation as needed

  • Conduct periodic site evaluations (EH&S Assessments) to identify/remove hazards and ensure regulatory compliance. Manage the departmental safety process to ensure employee involvement in safety programs at all levels and document results monthly.

  • Worker’s Compensation:  Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure that all accidents are reported and recorded in a timely manner, reports are promptly submitted to our insurance carrier, and the OSHA 300 logs and support documentation are properly maintained.

  • Other Duties: Coordinate with Departmental Managers and Plant Engineering to discuss safety aspects regarding proposed changes to equipment and/or operational processes. Lead monthly Safety Committee meetings with joint team of key management and hourly employees representing departments at both plants and utilizing the team to solve and address plant safety issues. Assist in providing first aid treatment to injured employees.

 

Qualified Applicants will have: 

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or University; or seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Requires intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, and MS Outlook.

  • 30 Hour OSHA Certification; HAZWOPER; ASP/CSP preferred.
